JL Audio, a Garmin brand, is shipping this month two new car audio amplifiers in its RD compact line.
New models include the ultra compact RD800/6 full range 6-channel amplifier with 800 watts staggered power and the RD900/5+ 5-channel, which adds a 3-way crossover to its predecessor.
The amplifiers are compact, with NexD switching technology. They each deliver 100 watts from each of 4 channels into a 2-ohm load (14.4 volts, 1% THD). The 6-channel amp adds a pair of channels capable of 200 watts each into a 2-ohm load (14.4V, 1% THD) for a total of 800 watts of power. The 5-channel amp adds 500 watts for a subwoofer for a total of 900 watts.

Each of the RD900/5+ amplifier’s main channels is equipped with a 12-decibel/octave high-pass filter, with an additional band-pass filter on its rear channels and a dedicated low-pass filter for the subwoofer channel.
All 3 crossovers offer continuously variable frequency selection from 50–500 Hz.
The 6-channel model offers triple high-pass filters or full 3-way crossover capability.
The RD800/6 has a retail price of $649.99 and the RD900/5+ carries a price of $749.99.
